Aboriginal youth transitions program for school students

Aboriginal youth transitions program for school students

In 2016 AWDCs started the Aboriginal youth transitions program to help young Aboriginal people transition to further education, training or jobs after leaving school.

The program seeks to:

  • raise the ambitions of Aboriginal school students in years 10 to 12;
  • ensure that students have a career transition plan completed before leaving school;
  • provide access to advice on careers and training options; and
  • offer work experience where available.

The AWDCs will continue to offer support and guidance to young people to help fulfil their aspirations after they leave school, via contact at regular intervals and access to specific services if required.
