The National Regional Workforce Planning and Development Report examines current workforce planning and development practice in all Australian States and jurisdictions. It articulates ‘ten best practice principles’ and a ‘best practice framework’ and provides a valuable resource to help workforce planning and development stakeholders and practitioners turn widespread but fragmented goodwill into best practice.
The report was commissioned by the Workforce Development Supply and Demand Principal Committee of the Council of Australian Governments’ Standing Council on Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment and was produced by the Workplace Research Centre, University of Sydney.

Following the release of the workforce development briefing papers, the Department of Training and Workforce Development is currently in the process of consulting with industry, the Government and community stakeholders through a series of information exchange sessions. The primary purpose of the information exchange sessions is to elicit advice from stakeholders on the issues impacting on workforce development and potential policy and strategy options. This presentation outlines the Government’s approach to workforce development and the process for the preparation of Skilling WA: A workforce development plan for Western Australia. Feedback from all of the sessions will further inform the development of Skilling WA: A workforce development plan for Western Australia.
