How to apply

You will find everything you need to prepare your WA Training Awards application on this page, including detailed application guides, templates to practice your written responses, and templates for all attachments you are required to submit with your online application.

Your starting point should be to read through the application guides, checking over the eligibility requirements and conditions of entry:

Once you have prepared your responses to the selection criteria and assembled all of the required attachments, you are ready to click the APPLY NOW link below and go through to the online application portal (Award Force):

The application guides have all the information you need, and hints on how to submit a great application.

Required attachments

You must include specific documents when you submit your application. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to put these documents together.

Here is an outline, as well as some useful templates.

ALL APPLICANTS
All applicants for individual and organisation categories must submit a signed talent release form.

INDIVIDUAL APPLICANTS
All individual category applicants must provide at least one written reference from either an employer/host employer or lecturer.

If employed at the time of applying, applicants must provide an employer endorsement.

If currently studying at school, applicants must submit a school endorsement.

If under 18 years of age, applicants must submit a parent/guardian declaration.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT OF THE YEAR APPLICANTS
In addition to the required attachments above, you must include a copy of your 500/572 visa and confirmation of enrolment notification (two page limit).

CULTURAL DIVERSITY TRAINING AWARD
In addition to the required attachments above, you must provide evidence that you migrated to Australia after 1 January 2019, currently reside in Western Australia, and a copy of your VISA under Australia’s Humanitarian Programme OR evidence of permanent residency (four page limit).

TRAINER OF THE YEAR APPLICANTS
All trainer applicants must provide a Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director endorsement.

Application selection criteria templates

Below are practice templates for all WA Training Award categories, that you can download to draft your written responses to the selection criteria. These templates are helpful as you can check spelling, grammar and word counts, and share with a friend, family member or colleague for feedback. Once you are happy with the content you can cut and paste into your online application. 

Do not attach the draft template to the application portal – you must copy and paste your responses into the appropriate fields online.

Using the online application portal

 

Applications must be submitted online through the application portal, by 5.00pm Friday 26 April.

1. Register on the home page of the application portal to log in or create an account.

2. You will receive an email from the WA Training Awards asking you to confirm your account. You may need to check your spam/junk email folder.

3. Once you have confirmed your account you will be able to log in and begin your application.

4. You can save and edit your application at any time during the application period.

Please ensure you have read the conditions of entry and eligibility criteria for your selected category (both are available in the application guides listed under 'Tools and templates' further down). 

  • 1 Select your category

    Select your category and name your application. 

    *For individuals, your application name is your full name.

    *For organisations, this is the name of your organisation.

    The category you select will determine which details, criteria and attachments are required for your application.

  • 2 Your details

    In this section, you will provide your current contact details.

    Organisation applicants must also provide their Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director’s details.

  • 3 Training details

    Note: Organisation applicants will be prompted to proceed to the next tab in the portal.

    Applicants for individual categories will provide the following information:

    • the course they are completing;
    • list details of a referee;
    • provide employer details (if employed);
    • provide group training organisation details (if applicable);
    • and/or school or registered training organisation details.
  • 4 Selection criteria

    Your selection criteria will populate after you select your category in tab one.

    Here you will provide your overview and address each of the selection criteria within the word limit. Use the considerations listed under each criterion, to put together a competitive response.

    Note: You can only insert text within the criterion fields. If you wish to provide supporting evidence such as tables, figures or other attachments, refer to them in the text field (E.g. Attachment 1: table 1) and upload a corresponding document in the attachments section.

  • 5 Attachments

    Upload all of your required attachments and supporting evidence in this tab. Here is an overview of what is required (templates are available further down).  

    All individual and organisation applicants

    • Talent release form

    Individual applicants

    • Written reference from either an employer/host employer or lecturer;
    • Employer endorsement (if applicable);
    • School endorsement (if applicable); and
    • Parent/guardian declaration (for applicants under 18 years of age).

    International Student of the Year applicants

    • In addition to the above attachments, please include a copy of your 500/572 visa and confirmation of enrolment notification.
