TeamWA in training for 2021

The countdown is on to August when Perth will host the 2021 WorldSkills Australia (WSA) National Championships and Skills Show, the nation’s biggest skills competition.

Held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event will shine the national spotlight on 100 of WA’s most talented apprentices and trainees when they compete in skills competitions against 400 interstate competitors.

Our local TeamWA has been training hard with all competitors vying to compete internationally as part of Australia's Skillaroos squad in Shanghai in 2022.

The talented team attended an orientation day at HBF Stadium in May. National judges and former competitors shared their competition experience with the group and the team practised essential skills such as team work and problem solving to help mentally prepare them for the competition.

You can watch TeamWA in action preparing for competition in this great video of the orientation day.

The WorldSkills Australia National Championships is open to the public, so make sure to mark 26–28 August in your diary. Come along to this free event to show your support for TeamWA and witness their amazing skills talents over three days of exciting competition.

While you’re there, you can see firsthand the enormous array of careers available in the VET sector at the co-located Perth SkillsWest Careers and Employment Expo. You can even participate in Try’aSkill demonstrations.

With 50 trades and skills being showcased and a total of 15,000 visitors expected, the excitement is building around this year’s national championships and skills show. Don’t miss this great event, visit the WorldSkills Australia website to find out more.
