WA Training Awards 25th Anniversary Design Competition

Aspiring graphic designers will be given the opportunity to create the branding for the 2019 WA Training Awards to commemorate a special anniversary for the award program.

Western Australia’s premier vocational education and training (VET) awards program enters its 25th year in 2019 and is running the competition as part of anniversary celebrations. Current WA graphic design students studying accredited courses are eligible to enter the competition. The competition winner will receive a $500 cash prize, two tickets to the 2019 presentation dinner, at which they will be invited to speak about their design, and will be featured in various promotions. Entries will be assessed by the Department of Training and Workforce Development’s communications and marketing area.

Department of Training and Workforce Development Director General Anne Driscoll said the program had a long history of giving apprentices, trainees and vocational students industry experience and the opportunity to make professional contacts. “The WA Training Awards have always incorporated rising talent into the award program from creating the floral centrepieces to doing the hair and makeup for the award’s night MC,” Ms Driscoll said. “We practice what we preach and give students a chance to showcase their talents to industry representatives and add a high-calibre professional development experience to their resumes. The WA Training Awards have been putting WA’s top VET achievers in the spotlight for 25 years and to mark this milestone we want to put WA graphic design on show with a chance to create the commemorative design for the anniversary. The talent of the VET sector always impresses me so I’ll be excited to see what our creative graphic design students present.”

Entries close 1 October 2018 and winners will be announced 1 November 2018.
