WorldSkills national championships coming to Perth!

It was announced today that Perth will host Australia's premier skills showcase in August 2020 — the WorldSkills Australia National Championships.

Showcasing up to 60 different skill categories, the WorldSkills Australia National Championships is the nation's biggest vocational education and training (VET) competition. The event will bring together the best and brightest apprentices, trainees, educators, employers and industry professionals to compete for the title of national champion in each skill category.

This is the third time Western Australia has hosted the event, with the last National Championships being held in Perth in 2014. For further information about WorldSkills Australia visit worldskills.org.au or for information on WorldSkills Western Australia visit dtwd.wa.gov.au/worldskills-wa

Held 13—15 August 2020 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, the free championships will run in conjunction with the SkillsWest Career Expo, and is expected to attract more than 500 competitors and 20,000 visitors. Visitors will experience a variety of skilled trades and technology careers under the one roof and can watch the competitions, participate in Try-a-Skill demonstrations and network with hundreds of industry and educational experts. The 2020 National Championships provide a pathway for medallists to become a member of the Australian Skill Squad to compete at the next WorldSkills International Competition to be held in Shanghai, in September 2021.
